The trip

Built for men who are ready to slow down

A Redtail men's retreat is a small group of men, usually six to ten, heading into the North Georgia backcountry for a few days. No phones buzzing, no schedule to keep. Just the trail, the Word, and honest conversation around the fire.

You don't need to be an experienced backpacker. We pick routes that fit the group, teach the skills as we go, and handle the logistics so you can focus on what matters.

Who it's for

  • Men who feel stretched thin and want space to reset
  • Men who want deeper friendships with other believers
  • First-time backpackers and seasoned hikers alike
  • Small groups from the same church or friend group

What you'll experience

A typical retreat

Every trip follows the same rhythm, stretched across the days you choose.

Arrival

Meet & hit the trail

Gear check, a short orientation, and the first miles together. Conversation starts easy: stories, background, where everyone's coming from.

First night

Around the fire

Camp, dinner, and the first campfire discussion: what it means to be a man, who shaped us, and what we're carrying.

Middle days

Miles, Word & solitude

Morning time alone with God in Scripture, then a full day on trail. Evenings go deeper: honesty, confession, and prayer for each other.

Last morning

Commissioning

A final time of reflection, sharing what God showed each man, and praying each other back into everyday life.

Topics we'll walk through

Conversations worth the climb

Each retreat is anchored in Scripture, with short teaching and open discussion. Common themes include:

  • Manhood: who taught us, and what God says
  • Rest, work, and stewarding what we've been given (Genesis 1–2)
  • Friendship and brotherhood (Proverbs 27:17)
  • Hearing God in creation (Psalm 19, Psalm 121)
  • Leading at home and at work
